On January 20, 2025—the convergence of the 47th US presidential inauguration and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day—the new administration unleashed its massive intimidation campaign to dismantle the balance of power and First Amendment rights, accelerating the US towards authoritarian rule.

Ohm Project is inspired by the ohm, symbolized by Ω, the unit of electrical resistance in the International System of Units (SI). Electrical resistance regulates the flow of energy and power. It is the crucial counterforce preventing damaging currents from overloading circuits. Similarly, resistance in society counteracts negative forces perpetuated by those who abuse power.

Our ability to harness electricity—the driving force behind our modern industrial world—evolved over a centuries-long collaboration of minds in various parts of the world. That 72% of the world today lives under authoritarian rule forces a chokehold on our capacity for such progress. We need a freer, less violent world to nurture creative minds and caring visionaries, to restore the health of our planet and ensure that we are all nourished.

Ω is a global call to resist—to unite and protect each other and the institutions designed to safeguard our rights and wellbeing. We must demand accountability and entrust our future to leaders who operate in truthfulness, transparency and the best interests of humanity.
